Victory Garden
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
— Eleanor Roosevelt
While serving as First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt planted a White House victory garden during World War II; thanks to her inspiration and example, during the War home gardens accounted for 40% of the U.S. supply of vegetable produce. With our second broadside, we joined a national movement to encourage the current First Lady, Michelle Obama, to carry on in Eleanor’s footsteps. A few months later, Mrs. Obama did indeed plant her White House garden—so we’re going to go ahead and take a small measure of credit for that!
