Nightsong
What hope shall we gather, what dreams shall we sow?
— Sarojini Naidu
We created our 18th Dead Feminist broadside, “Nightsong,” in hopes of ending violence against women. The piece honors the hopes and dreams of women and girls around the world—dreams that are all too often cut short by violence. The illustration depicts a lush dream menagerie printed in bright, exotic hues, surrounded by detailed paisleys and florals drawn in the style of Indian mehndi designs. Tigers, peacocks, elephants and nightingales stand sentinel around our heroine—a poet and politician known as “the nightingale of India.”
