Come, Come
Come, come, my conservative friend, wipe the dew off your spectacles and see the world is moving.
— Elizabeth Cady Stanton
This was the first broadside in our series, created in the weeks leading up to the 2008 Presidential election. At this point we had no plans for a series; we just wanted to respond to what we saw as a historic event, and urge women to exercise their hard-won right to vote. The ornate, Victorian style of lettering is inspired by the Artistic Printing phenomenon of the 19th and early 20th centuries—the era in which Elizabeth Cady Stanton was campaigning for women’s suffrage.
